Hornet Engineering And Technology
H.E.A.T. is the student organization of Bryant Hornet Engineering. While BHE students can expect many hands-on experiences throughout our PLTW classes and curriculum, H.E.A.T. will give members the opportunity to work on bigger, longer, and more impressive projects after hours in a true team setting. In addition, only H.E.A.T. members will be considered for BHE's competitive teams (VEX Robotics, EV Master Rally, BEST Robotics, etc...).
The objective of this organization is to promote Bryant Hornet Engineering through competition in select events (at regional, state, national and even international levels), and through local projects that contribute to the spirit of excellence and innovation within the Bryant School District.
To become a H.E.A.T. member, it is preferable that applicants be currently enrolled in a BHE course or have taken at least one BHE course in previous years. BHE students will have priority when filling the club roster and will initially have priority placement on high profile projects. Non-BHE students will apply for membership (to be approved by BHE staff) and will be encouraged to enroll in BHE courses in the following year, if possible. All approved students will then sign a 2016 - 2017H.E.A.T. Contract to become full-fledged members.
A select portion of H.E.A.T. will be operating as a TSA chapter. Membership dues (determined by the state TSA coordinator) for the school year may apply.
H.E.A.T. is expected to operate quite differently than other student organizations. Rather than having set meeting times for all members, dates/time found on the H.E.A.T. Calendar
are "windows" of time for members to log hours when actively working on a project. While the time required may vary from project to project, it is generally expected that a member should log and thoroughly document two hours of work on the project per week. Members can use any or all of the available dates to fill his/her hours, as personal schedules allow. Members may be involved in more than one project at a time, as long as required hours are logged.
BHE has high expectations for this newly formed organization, and we fully expect that H.E.A.T. will have a great impact on our department and the Bryant School District as a whole.
Make it Happen.
